What’s In The Bag: Charley Hull

What golf clubs and balls does Charley Hull use? Today’s Golfer delves into the LPGA winner’s TaylorMade bag.
Charley Hull finally ended her six-year wait for a second LPGA victory at The Ascendant LPGA Benefitting Volunteers of America, sparking wild celebrations on the final green.
The 26-year-old shot a seven-under-par 64 in the final round to battle through a crowded leaderboard and win by one shot, launching her back into the top 30 of the Rolex Women’s World Rankings. Georgia Hall, Hull’s close friend, helped get the celebrations started by running onto the green and spraying her fellow Englishwoman with champagne before embracing her.
The success came six years after Hull’s maiden LPGA victory at the 2016 CME Group Tour Championship and, alongside her three Ladies European Tour wins, further boosts the Kettering-born star’s impressive CV.
More recently, a strong performance at the Women’s British Open in 2023 saw Hull fall just short, eventually finishing runner-up to American Lilia Wu at Walton Heath.
Hull, who also won the first event in the Rose Ladies Series back in 2020, was the youngest golfer to play in the Solheim Cup when she made her debut aged 17 in 2013. She has been a member of Team Europe for six successive editions of the event and boasts a healthy winning record.
A TaylorMade staff player, Hull uses a full bag of the brand’s clubs, including the Stealth Plus driver, along with their TP5x golf ball. Let’s take a closer look at what’s in the bag of Charley Hull.
What driver does Charley Hull use?
Charley Hull uses a TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver (8°) with an Attas Rockstar 6X shaft
We’ve got to admit we’re pretty shocked by Stealth Plus putting in such a strong performance. We’d tested the model before (in creating our Stealth YouTube video) when it out-performed Callaway and Ping models, with tidy but not ground-breaking ball speed and carry distance gains (2.8 mph of ball speed and 4 yards of carry distance gain over the longest), but those numbers were nothing like what we saw running our full 2022 driver test. The difference in part at least can be explained in switching Neil out of a recommended shaft (that to him felt like hard work) and into the stock (low flight) Mitsubishi Kai’Li, and boy are we glad we did.

What fairway wood does Charley Hull use?
Charley Hull uses a TaylorMade Stealth Plus fairway wood (15°) with a Mitsubishi Tensei Blue 70S shaft
The Plus was our joint 2022 longest fairway wood (tied with the Callaway Rogue ST LS) at 251 yds carry distance (6 yards longer than the Stealth), but more importantly, our data shows exactly why TaylorMade elite staff players love putting this model in play.
The titanium and carbon fiber construction launches and flights shots higher (whilst lowering spin) which gives a steeper descent angle, and pros love that because they can loft up whilst losing no speed or distance and gain a slight advantage on getting shots to drop out of the air and stop on very long approaches.

What hybrid does Charley Hull use?
Charley Hull uses a TaylorMade SIM MAX hybrid (19°) with a UST iROD 85 S shaft
The SIM Max is part of a long line of award-winning TaylorMade hybrids and it’s both powerful, forgiving, and good-looking, too.
We love the mid-width head shape, it sits really square at address and unlike some, its chalk and charcoal cosmetics give a really friendly and forgiving look. SIM Max was our longest hybrid of 2020 (average carry 226 yards), so it’s an excellent option for club golfers looking to replace long and mid irons.
A 16-yard carry drop-off (7%) was under our test average, too, which also tells us SIM Max offers a great blend of power and, crucially, forgiveness

What irons does Charley Hull use?
Charley Hull uses TaylorMade P7MB irons (4-PW) with Project X 6.5 shafts
It’s little surprise then that the MBs have had decent golfers excited since Charley Hull won a Rose Ladies Series event with a set before they’d appeared on the men’s Tour.
The set has a constant blade length so the 3-iron and PW are very similar in length, which is very different to the P7TWs (Tiger Woods irons) which have inverted blade lengths so the short irons are longer than the mid and long irons. TaylorMade says extra blade length over the previous P730 increases forgiveness a little.

What wedges does Charley Hull use?
Charley Hull uses TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 wedges (50°-SB, 54°-SB, 60°-LB) with Modus Tour 120S shafts
This version – thanks to raised micro ribs on the face and an optimized thick-thin design – pushes backspin and CG placement to the optimum.
If you're not sold on the Hi-Toe head shape and the look of full-face grooves, the TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 should suit you down to the ground. It was one of our highest-spinning wedges on test in 2022 and one of the best at preserving distances on mishits.

What golf shoes does Charley Hull wear?
Charley Hull wears adidas ZG23 golf shoes
A favorite spiked golf shoe with our editior and Tour stars
It is a hybrid golf shoe that combines a recycled upper, with a Lightstrike midsole for maximum cushioning and energy return and is brought together with a six-cleat Traxion outsole.
Many brands would say that six cleats are not enough to give the best traction on a shoe. But the way the outsoles are designed with spikes and a layer of strategic molds makes you feel closer to the ground and helps you transfer weight through the swing. The ZG23 also has 3D cradles down the side for lateral stability during the golf swing.
All that you'd expect from a premium-priced shoe that is worn by some of the world's best players, it's also fully waterproof.
See how the ZG23 compares to the best adidas golf shoes.
