Narin and Portnoo Golf Club

What we say
Recent redevelopments have pushed Narin and Portnoo to a level where it can compete with many of the best golf courses in the Republic of Ireland.
Ireland is packed full of wonderful links courses – from Portrush, Portstewart, Castelrock et in the north-east to the famed Ring of Kerry collection in the south west.
The north west has generally not enjoyed the same level of exposure of those areas but it is showing signs of becoming a powerhouse in the Emerald Isle.
Rosapenna has added a Tom Doak-designed links to its two existing courses and now Narin & Portnoo has finished a reimagining of its seaside course by one of Doak’s disciples, Gil Hanse.
Narin & Portnoo has always been a top-50 fixture in our Irish Top 100 and squeezed into the late 80s of our GB&I Links Top 100.

With the work of the feted Hanse, expect it to rise in future rankings once we have assessed the American’s work there.
The course enjoys a wonderful setting among a classically Irish dunescape.

Played this course at the end of April. Some breathtaking views along the coast. Easily the toughest course I have ever played. Enjoy a good score on the front 9 because on the back if the wind is against it is a real monster. Facilities were at a minimum when I played as the clubhouse was under renovation.
