Nairn Golf Club

What we say
New openings have given it increased competition, but Nairn Golf Club remains one of the best courses in the Highlands.
Nairn Golf Club has long been the second best course in the Highlands behind Dornoch – although the advent of Castle Stuart has muddied those waters somewhat.
Nevertheless, it remains a wonderful course which was a very fine host for the 1999 Walker Cup when GB&I continued their new-found dominance over America.

The course is divided up into different sections which provides a nice variety. The first section along the shore is arguably the pick. Certainly the par-3 4th, aptly-named Bunker, down to the water is an experience you won’t forget in a hurry.

After this linksy start the course takes on an inland-links nature similar to Ganton but one thing is constant – the quality of the greens. They are absolutely magnificent, almost shimmering with a glow as you approach up the fairway. Golf World has played on no better in Britain and Ireland.

The above says it all. Great course, practice ground and club house. The staff are among the best you will meet and the food is better than most restaurants. All in all. You MUST go there. I love it so much I joined as a country member (I live in merseyside) and feel at home there every time I visit.

i managed to get on here with a couple of memebers £15 so it was money well spent, a nice layout with a little inland loop. Yes you can slice into the sea on the opening few holes (but you would have to be very wayward). A bit remote but if in the area tie it up with nairn dunbar and moray (old or new)

best greens Ive ever played on.

go every year for their 4 day open, some of the best tees and greens in the whole world, not particularly long, but very testing if the wind blows, with plenty of heather and gorse to catch any wayward shots. its not too demanding for the mature golfer, as only one hill to climb, up to 13th green and its easy on the feet. Superb clubhouse overlooking the moray firth and members are extremely friendly when you get to know them. well worth a visit

The wide fairways look innocuous, but the decision making and the impact of a wrong choice require patience, courage and skill. The greens were like glass even at 7pm in the evening, and put other courses in perspective. Shame that the bar and restaurant couldn't match the course. I'd have been in heaven.

One of my favourites. Its a mix of classic links with some heathland features
