Set amid pine forests on terrain dominated by white sand dunes, this is Slovakia’s first – and incredibly impressive – step into the world of high-calibre golf resorts.

It is found in the Záhorie region near the town of Senica and spreads over a huge 217-hectares site. There are two courses and myriad leisure facilities at a complex that is poised to come in at a cool £20million.

The real attraction of Penati, though, is the countryside giving rise to a sandy beach on the shores of the lake, fishing, skating, cycling paths, and nearby horse riding.
