Maxfli Tour 2023 Golf Balls Review

The Maxfli Tour golf balls have been engineered to deliver a soft feel and premium performance.

Maxfli have three balls in their premium range of golf balls, the Tour, Tour S and Tour X. Although they are not specifically known for producing premium golf balls, Maxfli’s Tour golf balls are up there with the best golf balls available. They’re clearly good enough for 11-time LPGA Tour winner Lexi Thompson.

The market for premium golf balls is constantly increasing in competition. Brands are all aiming to produce a golf ball that will rival the best premium golf balls.

Key Tech

Maxfli have definitely produced a golf ball that can compete with the best golf balls, down to the technology featured in the Tour balls. The technology incorporated in these golf balls may not be as advanced as the technology in a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x but it is impressive and makes the ball perform exceptionally well. What technology is packed inside the Tour golf balls?

Center of Gravity Balanced

This is Maxfli’s patented balancing process, when combined with the new alignment aid improves consistency and accuracy.

Soft Cast Urethane

The soft cast urethane cover is what gives the Maxfli Tour its soft feel and additional greenside spin.

Tetrahedron Dimple Pattern

In order to optimize aerodynamics, the Tour golf balls sport a tetrahedron dimple pattern which improves ball flight by reducing drag allowing the ball to travel further.

Fast Core

This is Maxfli’s new core which has been designed to increase ball speeds giving explosive distance off the tee.

High-Speed Mantle

The new high-speed mantle delivers faster ball speed and helps to reduce spin on long distance shots.

Which Maxfli Tour golf ball should I play?

There are three options in this category to choose from, all of which offer something slightly different. Depending on what you want from your ball, where you play, and desired flight all impact which ball you should be playing with.

The Maxfli Tour is a very good premium ball sporting a 3-piece urethane cover construction which will compete with any premium golf ball. If you are wanting a soft ball with mid-height ball flight and iron spin, low driver spin, and high greenside spin then the Tour ball is your best option.

The Maxfli Tour S is also a 3-piece urethane cover construction golf ball that provides the softest feel of all the Maxfli Tour range golf balls. The ball flight and iron spin is slightly lower than the Tour – better for links golf and windy conditions.

Last of the three Tour options is the Tour X which is a 4-piece urethane cover construction golf ball. It is still soft feeling, but it is the hardest of the three Tour range golf balls. The Tour X has better stopping powers with higher iron spin and ball flight.

Balls such as the Maxfli Tour have upset the apple cart for the big brands over the past half-decade. And we can see why. The Tour ranked fifth, second and joint sixth longest across the 85/100/115mph speeds while being bang on average for spin and distance with the 7-iron.

OK, with a wedge it fell 339rpm against our test average, and overall there was a 4.2sq yd bigger shot area. But for significantly less money than a Pro V1, for many players, they won’t be deal breakers. If you can get your hands on some, the Maxflis are well worth trying.

Maxfli Tour availability

The Tour golf balls are available in white and yellow. The balls are traditionally numbered from 1 to 4.

Maxfli have been owned by US retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods since 2008, but their balls are available to purchase from numerous retailers in the States at an RRP of $39.99; definitely worth trying as a competitor to the best golf balls. These balls can be purchased from the UK but are not as readily available.
