What’s In The Bag: Bernhard Langer
Published: Last updated:
We review the golf bag of Bernhard Langer, golf’s first men’s World No.1 and the oldest winner on the PGA Champions Tour.
Way back when on the 6th of April 1986, the Official World Golf Ranking started. The German spent three weeks at the helm from April 6 to April 26, 1986, before fellow European legend Seve Ballesteros overhauled him for the first of his five spells at the top.
Bernhard has had a thing for winning over the years he has amassed well over 100 wins worldwide on a range of tours. Langer managed to get himself two green jackets in his career, winning The Masters twice at Augusta in 1985, and in 1993, he also won 42 times on the European Tour, the second most wins in history behind Seve.
The German has picked up an astonishing 46 victories on the PGA Champions Tour. He broke Hale Irwin’s record of 45 wins after collecting his 12th senior major title in 2023 at the senior US Open in Wisconsin. Langer keeps managing to break his own record he set in early 2022 when he became the oldest winner of a Tour-sanctioned event now at the age of 65 years old.
Over his career, he played a total of 42 matches in the Ryder Cup and won just over 50% of them putting 24 points on the board for Team Europe. He played in a total of 10 Ryder Cups and was on the winning side five times.
In 2021, Bernhard Langer signed a multi-year equipment deal with Tour Edge, Langer has worked extensively with the company’s Tour Department to dial in his specs on the equipment in his bag.
“I have been playing many of the clubs in my bag for a long time and when I started working with Tour Edge out on the PGA Tour Champions, I realized that they were the best option to getting me exactly what I needed to continue to perform at the highest level.”
