We look through the bag of the multiple major champion, Olympic medalist, and two-time Rolex player of the year winner Lydia Ko.

In her mid-twenties, Lydia Ko is a 19-time LPGA Tour winner with two major titles and multiple wins on the Ladies European Tour. She is No. 1 in the women’s world golf rankings and back in 2015 she became the youngest player to do so.

Ko has represented New Zealand twice at the Olympic games. She won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

At the end of the 2022 season, Lydia Ko got her hands on the largest payday in women’s golf history! She took home a $2 million cheque at the CME Group Tour Championship.

The kiwi managed to secure her second Player of the Year award and the Vare Trophy for the second consecutive year with the lowest average score in the season. Ko averaged 68.988 putting her second in the all-time rankings behind Annika Sorenstam’s 68.70 average from 2002.

With the Tour Championship victory, the Rolex Player of the Year honor, and the Vare Trophy, Ko now has 25 points toward qualifying for the LPGA Hall of Fame, two points shy of the 27 needed to be inducted.

For her to have achieved all this by her age is astonishing. We can only imagine that there’s plenty more to come there’s no wonder why we have named the New Zealander one of the most influential people in golf.

Back in 2017, she signed a multi-year deal with the new kid on the block PXG. When her original five-year deal ended at the start of 2022 the pair went their separate ways.

Ko now sports a range of manufacturers throughout her golf bag, she has kept some of her most trusted PXG clubs and has found that life without a club contract comes with its perks of being able to test what she wants.

Lydia has even partnered with well know shoe brand Ecco, becoming a brand ambassador for the company and developing her own shoes. The Ecco W Golf Biom G5 is a celebration of Ko’s dual nationality as it incorporates a mix of South Korean hibiscus and New Zealand silver fern in the shoe material.
