Frenchman Victor Perez picked up his third win on the DP World Tour at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January. It was Perez’s maiden Rolex series victory and saw him edge out Australian Min Woo Lee and Swedish star Sebastian Soderberg by one shot in a thrilling end to the final round at Yas Links Golf Club.

Perez’s first win of 2023 came off the back of a reasonably successful 2022 on the DP World Tour where he carded three top 10s and a win at the Dutch Open in May.

The win at Yas Links saw him jump to the top of the Race to Dubai rankings, and gave Perez’s chances to make it to Rome and be in the 2023 Ryder Cup team a considerable boost.

Perez holed a fantastic bunker shot for birdie on the 17th hole which helped him claim victory. After the round he was openly honest about the shot: “It wasn’t actually as difficult of a bunker shot because it was downhill to the hole, flat at the hole and into the wind.

“It came up maybe a little skinny, I’m not going to lie, and spun back and the fortune of the ball going in which is probably the greatest shot I’ve ever hit.”
