What’s In The Bag of PGA Tour winner J.J. Spaun?
J.J. Spaun won his first PGA Tour title in 147 starts at the 2022 Valero Texas Open. The American had recorded four top-three finishes previously, but got the elusive win after posting a 13-under total at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course to secure a two-shot victory over Matt Jones and Matt Kuchar.
Spaun became the first player to win a PGA Tour event after opening the final round with a double bogey since Tiger Woods at the 2008 U.S. Open.

Highlights of Spaun’s Valero Texas Open week included an 87-yard hole-out for eagle on the par-5 eighth hole on the Thursday, as well as two chip-in birdies over the weekend.
After graduating from San Diego State in 2012, Spaun’s steady career progression has included the 2015 PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit title, and securing his first PGA Tour card via the 2016 Korn Ferry Tour Regular Season.
Spaun’s Valero Texas Open win also secured him an invitation to play at The Masters for the first time in his career.
In terms of equipment, J.J. Spaun’s WITB is very interesting. He uses a real mixed bag of equipment, including clubs from Ping, TaylorMade, Callaway, Srixon, Cleveland, and Titleist.
