What we say...
I review the Ping PLD Milled Oslo 3 Putter to discover whether it delivers improved accuracy and consistency
Ping putters are widely regarded as being some of the best putters in the game. Players of all abilities game Ping putters, from Tour stars to beginner golfers. The PLD putter range was first introduced in 2023, and Ping have added to this range with the Ping Milled Oslo 3 putter along with four other models.
The PLD series is littered with some of the best blade putters and best mallet putters. Therefore, it’s easy to see why they immediately gained favor among professional golfers and amateur golfers for their timeless design and exceptional performance – this hasn’t changed in the latest models Ping have unveiled. The Oslo 3 boasts Tour influence from Tyrrell Hatton who has played this head shape for a number of years. Will Tyrrell switch out his trusted putter for the PLD Milled Oslo 3?
Providing the claims made by Ping for this putter are that it improves accuracy and consistency it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Tyrrell replace his current putter with the Oslo 3. Another perk of this putter is that it’s a high MOI design which makes it extremely forgiving and helps with accuracy and consistency.
Some of the putters released in this 2024 PLD range are new versions of the putters that launched in 2023. However, the Oslo 3 is a brand-new addition to the Ping PLD Milled series and it’s certainly a welcomed addition to the range. Being a large mallet that suits putting strokes with a slight arc this putter caters to a wide range of golfers.
There is much to love about the Oslo 3, it definitely does help to deliver a consistent stroke that results in an accurate putt. Ping have been able to improve the accuracy and consistency by lowering the weight which optimizes the center of gravity.
What technology features in the Ping PLD Milled Oslo 3 Putter
Power of the machines
Every putter released in both the inaugural and subsequent launches of the Ping PLD putter series, with the notable exception of the Ally Blue 4, the Oslo 3 is entirely crafted from 303-stainless steel through precision machining techniques.
Aggressive Milling Pattern
Each putter within Ping’s exceptional range of PLD putters features the deep Aggressive Milling Pattern (AMP) face technology which produces a surface texture meticulously refined with insights from professional tour players. The Oslo 3 endures a rigorous milling process that lasts more than four hours, guaranteeing precise shaping for enhanced sound, feel, and speed on the putting surface.
High MOI
The Oslo 3 along with the Anser 2D and Ally Blue 4 putters, in the latest launch of models in the PLD range, boast high MOI which makes it extremely forgiving thanks to a low center of gravity. MOI is mostly discussed with drivers, in 2024 it’s a major talking point with Ping and TaylorMade both manufacturing drivers with 10,000 MOI – the Ping G430 Max 10k and TaylorMade Qi10 Max.
However, MOI is also very important in putters, especially in the Oslo 3 because the high MOI is what helps ensure this putter meets its claims of delivering improved accuracy and consistency.
Gunmetal finish
Ping has foregone the matte black and satin finishes previously chosen for the initial PLD putters introduced in 2023. In their place, they have embraced a gunmetal finish, evoking a sense of premium craftsmanship and visual allure. The white alignment line on the PLD Oslo 3 harmonizes seamlessly with the gunmetal finish, creating a striking contrast. Undoubtedly, this refined finish is poised to resonate positively among both Tour professionals and amateur golfers alike.

Ping are renowned for their blade putters, particularly the Anser which is the winning most putter in golf history. However, if they continue to release putters such as the PLD Milled Oslo 3 they may be better known for their mallet putters at some point in the future.
Available in lengths from 33″-36″, the Oslo 3 is suitable for a wide range of golfers. The premium and quality finish paired with the outstanding performance makes this putter impossible not to consider if you’re in the market for one of the best putters.
