What we say...
The most popular ball in the market since its launch in 2000 is evolving for 2015. Feedback on the previous version suggested golfers wanted more spin and softer feel in the short game without sacrificing the distance and durability, so that’s what Titleist has set out to achieve.
Both models feature a new urethane elastomer cover that delivers distance and consistency on long game shots and more control and even softer feel around the greens – plus greater durability.
The Pro V1 has a softer feel, slightly more long game spin and a more penetrating trajectory that produces a shallower angle of descent and more roll. The Pro V1x offers a slightly firmer feel, lower long game spin and launches higher with a steeper angle of descent.
These performance differences stem from the balls’ composition. The Pro V1 is a three-piece design with a soft compression core and 352 dimples. The Pro V1x is a four-piece with 328 dimples.
Tested
Delivers good distance, very impressive driver ball speeds and shots around the green checked up nicely.
Flight and stopping power felt easy to predict. Nice soft feel, underperformed on short game shots but loaded with backspin.

I'm not a big hitter of the ball (210yds Driver) so I score my points around the green (Wedges and putter). I tried the Callaway Chrome Soft, Srixon Soft Feel and W/S FG Tour. All good balls and reasonable priced too. But I have gone back to the Pro V1X. Simply because I get a bit higher trajectory and I feel confident around the greens with this ball also I like the feel off the putter face. I think Titleist could reduce the price though £51 doz bit steep. I have managed to play six eighteen hole rounds with the same ball and it is still like new!!

Although these balls are expensive, in my opinion they are worth every penny! I am able to hit them to the club distance that I am using every time. I can even generate backspin when using my wedges. There has been no scuffing on the ball and the colour has not changed.
