FIRST LOOK: Titleist TSR “Mini Driver” Spotted At The Players Championship

It’s not even been 24 hours since Scottie Scheffler stomped home with victory at Bay Hill and the attention of myself and many others in the golfing world have been tempted by what can only be described as, another mini-driver!

Anyone with an eagle eye would have spotted that this morning, on the USGA conforming list, a new addition to the Titleist TSR family is in the works. From early imagery and information, we can see that this is likely going to be called the TSR 2 wood.

You can see that the hosel is clearly marked with “2W” but on the USGA conforming list, it shows the head with 13° of loft. So, with little insight, it is hard to tell if this will sit in the driver or fairway wood families.

From initial images, it’s tough to work out the dimensions of the club but it certainly looks to have a deeper profile similar to the TSR4 driver and a much deeper and larger face than the TSR2+ fairway meaning we are certainly in the ballpark of a “Mini Driver”.

Mini drivers, whilst not for everyone, have grown increasingly popular amongst the guys on tour. Most notably in the bags of LIV stars Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau, not to forget Tommy Fleetwood, who has been gaming the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver.

With TaylorMade seemingly being the only one currently in the mini-driver market, it is no surprise a few more manufacturers want their piece of the pie. The debate will go on whether these should sit amongst the best drivers or best fairway woods but for now, we want to see how this performs! We would expect to see this in play from some of the Titleist staff players this week at The Players Championship.
