The MAVRIK produced ball speeds within 0.1mph of our fastest driver of the year (which you wouldn’t expect from a more forgiving model) and within two yards of our longest-carrying driver. But doing it while offering up the narrowest back and sidespin drop-offs (by 32%), as well as the tightest carry drop-offs (by 55%) of our whole test, is a seriously impressive performance.

Included in that elusive list is TaylorMade's Stealth driver which we included in our most forgiving drivers of 2022. For the majority of club golfers, the standard Stealth model offers a better combination of ball speed and backspin compared to the Stealth Plus, and thanks to the extra 15% MOI it will be more forgiving and easy to live with on the golf course.

Each ZX driver, fairway, and hybrid has been engineered with a rebound frame that Srixon says provides a more efficient transfer of energy. Two zones (the driver face and body surrounding it) are specifically optimized to deform at impact and snap back, which Srixon says gives a more efficient transfer of energy than other driver designs.

The G425 MAX is aimed at a wide audience of golfers and will be the most forgiving option for the majority of players. Ping says the Max is 4.5 yards longer than the previous G410 fairway wood, thanks to the new Face Wrap and Spinsistency tech. The lower part of the face has less loft, so shots spin less and go further, yet higher up the face there’s more loft (which means more spin) so shots stay in the air for longer. The result is less difference in launch, spin, and carry distance between low, middle, and high face impacts.

Thanks to lowering the center of gravity inside the Stealth 2 head, the high CT area is more aligned with where golfers impact shots when hitting from the turf. The idea is simple but it means shots are easier to flight, with additional speed. TaylorMade has achieved it by reducing face and crown height by 2mm and positioning sizeable internal mass towards the rear of the head.

A pre-worn leading edge is designed to get through the ground more efficiently and boost forgiveness, while up to 67g of Tungsten has been placed both internally and externally to position each club’s center of gravity more precisely than ever before. This will help make the irons easy to launch and boost speeds on off-center hits, which the brand says will prove the difference between hitting targets and coming up short.

We love how the standard Mavrik sits behind the ball, the improved sound is light years away from traditional loud fast face tech and the Pro model looks sleek. Mizuno says it is perfect for golfers who want a bit of everything (forged feel and sound, fast ball speeds, great looks, and a degree of forgiveness), but don’t want to compromise on anything to get it. Cyber Monday Golf Club Deals: Buying Guide
Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales can be a little tricky to navigate with a plethora of retailers all vying for your business as the holiday season approaches. To help keep you focussed we have suggested a few considerations to bear in mind so you come out the other end with some golfing gems.
Budget
Just because items are plastered with sale banners and claims of huge discounts, it’s worth doing your due diligence and making sure the advertised savings appear genuine. It’s also important to set yourself a budget, just as you would when shopping at any other time of the year. Even with healthy savings, golf clubs are expensive pieces of equipment, so make sure you consider the cost, not just the savings.
Equipment Gaps
It’s easy for the heaviest discounted items to sway you towards a purchase that you don’t desperately need. Once you have established a budget, we suggest taking a look at your current setup and considering where the distance gaps are, or which clubs are on their last legs. For example, if you only carry 12 or 13 clubs, what do you need to bridge any disproportionate gaps between clubs? Or perhaps the grooves on your lob wedge are not looking so sharp anymore. This is a much more pragmatic way of deciding where you should invest as opposed to buying a shiny new discounted driver when you have been hitting the ball well off the tee all season.
Timing
This is perhaps one of the trickiest aspects of the Black Friday sales to get right, as when they’re gone -they’re gone! Discounts across the sales period are constantly fluctuating depending on which items are flying off the shelf and which ones are struggling to shift. In the same way as you might approach buying a flight, we suggest monitoring prices for a short period to give you an indication if they are likely to continue to drop or if they will remain constant until the stock is gone. The very best deals can often be found closer to the day itself, however, you do run the risk of your number one pick being sold out with this approach.
Cyber Monday
The Monday after Thanksgiving (27th) is dubbed ‘Cyber Monday’ and presents a bonus opportunity to bag yourself a bargain if you missed out on Black Friday. Discounts typically continue and may even improve in some areas as retailers aim to keep the sales rolling. If you miss out on Black Friday, perhaps Cyber Monday will deliver for you!
Club Specifics
Comprehensive buying guides for specific clubs e.g. driver, fairway woods, irons, wedges, and putters can be found in our dedicated best equipment guides where you will find the information you need to help you identify the models that will best complement your game.
Cyber Monday Golf Club Deals: FAQs
When do the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales end?
Deals will continue to drop throughout today (Cyber Monday), even though Black Friday has been and gone. This year Black Friday landed on Friday 24 November, but thankfully for us consumers the deals didn’t end then! Amazing offers will continue throughout Cyber Monday before prices return to normal. So, be sure to shop these outstanding deals soon, before it’s too late…
How long do Black Friday and Cyber Monday last?
Officially, Black Friday is one day when retailers slash the price of their products allowing customers to make major savings they otherwise wouldn’t at any other time of the year. However, Black Friday is now much more of a weekend event, culminating on the following Monday – often referred to as Cyber Monday. This year the best deals ran between Friday 24 November and today, Monday 27 November.
When did Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals start?
While Black Friday (November 24) doesn’t officially fall until the day after Thanksgiving, many retailers were advertising deals from the beginning of November and they’ll continue until the end of today.
How much do Black Friday and Cyber Monday discount?
Discounts vary significantly between retailers with some research suggesting the average savings across the sale period to be in the region of 50%. You can expect the most popular items to receive more modest discounts of 20-30%, and less popular items to receive heavier reductions of 70% plus. Items will likely be discounted further as the official day draws closer.
Are Black Friday and Cyber Monday a good time to buy golf clubs?
Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales undoubtedly present one of the best opportunities in the year for golfers to secure bargains on golf clubs from the biggest brands in the game. With new models of clubs being released in the new year, Black Friday sales are used by retailers to turnover surplus stock which is great news for golfers wanting to upgrade their bags with a new club, or 14!
Do golf retailers offer Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals?
Along with major online retailers such as Amazon, the majority of the biggest golf retailers will capitalize on the increased traffic around Black Friday and offer attractive discounts to customers ahead of the holiday season. PGA Tour Superstore, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Scottsdale Golf, and American Golf all offer Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals and are some of the most reputable places to purchase golf clubs.
