Titleist have completely overhauled their AVX golf balls to deliver greater distance, softer feel, and better short-game performance

Titleist are the proud manufacturers of some of the best golf balls in the game. They have a wide range of golf balls to suit golfers of all abilities. Their brand-new AVX golf balls for 2024 are aimed at players who enjoy playing with premium golf balls but don’t have blisteringly quick swing speed.

Now in its fourth generation, Titleist AVX golf balls have cemented themselves as one of Titleist’s best golf balls. They suit a wide range of golfers, mainly those playing with Pro V1 or Pro V1x who want a lower ball flight and less spin, and golfers who reach for one of the best amateur-level golf balls but are seeking slightly more performance.

If you’re currently playing with a soft-feeling golf ball intended for beginners and high-handicappers and you’re looking to switch to a more premium golf ball, this is arguably the best jump you can make. The compression of this premium golf ball isn’t ridiculously high, so you don’t need to swing like Justin Thomas to unlock all the performance of the AVX. Also, the feeling is incredibly soft being a urethane cover.

New high gradient, high speed core

The new high gradient, high speed core introduced to the 2024 AVX golf balls features the same technology found in Titleist’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls. It helps to deliver longer distance from tee to green and has made improvements to the soft feel.

New thin, high-flex casing layer

Titleist have engineered a new thin, high-flex casing layer to produce lower spin in the long game.

New 346 quadrilateral dipyramid catenary dimple design

Allowing for a more penetrating ball flight is the new 346 quadrilateral dipyramid catenary dimples design which creates the optimized aerodynamics of the AVX.

New softer urethane cover

The new softer urethane cover offers a softer feel and increased greenside spin for outstanding short game control.

Which Titleist golf ball should I play?

Whether you opt to play with one of the best distance golf balls or one of the best premium golf balls, Titleist has a golf ball for you! Of the eight golf balls the brand offers, you’ll easily be able to find at least one to suit your game.

If you enjoy playing with the same golf ball played by Tour players, there are three Titleist golf balls played on Tour – Pro V1, Pro V1x, and Pro V1 Left Dash. These accompany the AVX in Titleist’s category of premium golf balls.

Amateur golfers may be better suited by Titleist’s Tour Speed or Tour Soft golf balls which are designed for golfers with moderate swing speeds who enjoy quality feel and performance, but don’t want to spend top dollar on their golf balls.

The two cheapest golf balls Titleist have to offer are their TruFeel and Velocity golf balls. Both of these golf balls provide amazing value for beginners and high-handicap golfers. TruFeel provides an incredibly soft feeling, while Velocity is much more distance-orientated.

Titleist AVX availability

The 2024 AVX is available in two color options – white and yellow. Unlike the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, which can be numbered however you choose, the AVX is only available in standard numbers from 1 to 4. Golfers across the glove will be able to get their hands on the brand-new AVX golf balls from January 24. However, for golfers in the UK and Ireland, AVX golf balls will be available from February 2.
